We support underprivileged farmers
in rural Africa
with funding and expertise
About the Seed4Farmers Foundation
We established the foundation in 2017.
The name Seed4Farmers is chosen because it reflects the connection to our (former) field of work in the seed industry. Seed should be understood in the broad sense here.
Our foundation financially supports projects through recognized organizations and partners. In addition, we find it important to be able to contribute with our own knowledge and experience.
Objective of the foundation
Primary: The support of underprivileged farmers in rural areas in Africa through technical, financial, educational and innovative support in order to increase the harvest in a qualitative and quantitative sense.
Secondary: Improving the living and working conditions of a community in rural areas.
Board
Frans Tetteroo: chairman
Roelf Weges: secretary
Ed Nobel: treasurer
Main points of the policy plan
Support of small farmers in Africa. Preference for focus on vegetable cultivation.
Stable countries in Africa e.g. Rwanda and Tanzania.
'Soft' loans are an option in addition to donations. This promotes taking responsibility on the part of the partner in Africa.
The foundation receives the money from donors, primarily from (ex-) Incotec employees ( the Founding donors).
Founding donors consider it important to be able to contribute their own knowledge and experience.
Initially, the foundation only gives to projects through recognized organizations. Only when sufficient experience has been built up will projects be funded directly.
Projects are evaluated on the basis of application criteria. Attention is paid to the contribution of projects to long-term structural solutions. This means that attention is paid to the planning of activities, expected results and agreements on evaluation. The evaluation should pay attention to the input, the activities, the output, outcome and impact.
Remuneration policy
The directors receive no remuneration for their work.
Costs of board members (e.g. travelling for the benefit of the foundation) are for their own account.
All money from donors goes to the projects.
